Maumee City Schools verify's residency for all new student's at the New Student Enrollment Appointment and currently enrolled students prior to the start of each school year as allowed by state law. This is to ensure that students attending school in Maumee legally reside within the school district boundaries. Parents/Guardians of all students (K-12) will be required to attend the August registration to complete this process each year.
Explanation of Residency Verification Process
Maumee is not an “Open Enrollment” District
The Maumee City School District does not offer "open enrollment" and does not enroll students who live outside the boundaries of the district, unless tuition is paid. The tuition rate is set for all public schools by the Ohio Department of Education.
When it is learned that someone residing outside the boundaries of the Maumee City School District is fraudulently sending their child(ren) to school to Maumee Schools, the school district has the legal right to charge tuition retroactively for the days that Maumee educated each student. Maumee works cooperatively with other area school districts to ensure that students are being educated in the district where their parent or legal guardian resides.
