Wayne Trail School Profile

Wayne Trail is an educationally unique two-grade level building of both fourth and fifth grade students. When students enter Wayne Trail, they enter with a feel of true community. We focus on building positive relationships with students and families from day one. These relationships continue to build for the two full years as we have adopted a "looping" model, where teachers teach the same students for two successive years. Our caring teachers also work in teams to collaborate to best meet students' needs. This allows our highly qualified and dedicated educators to know the students' strengths and challenges to capitalize on maximum student performance. This safe and close-knit learning environment has also been enhanced with our P.B.I.S. (positive behavior intervention and supports) program, where students get recognized and rewarded for making the right choices.

  • Wayne Trail offers a wide variety of hands-on and relevant learning opportunities throughout the year. For instance, our cutting-edge MakerSpace allows students to be creative, innovative and learn with both high-tech (S.T.E.A.M. activities, robotics, 3D modeling, graphic designing and computer programming) and low-tech materials (Legos, Keva blocks and other building materials). All students have a Google Chromebook to utilize throughout the day to extend their learning. We host themed weeks, such as Hockey Week, Serve Week and Diversity Week to make learning experiences authentic and memorable.
  • With high academic standards in mind, we offer a full range of services from gifted and talented to special education, were quality teachers work diligently to challenge students to be at their best.
  • Our uniqueness and greatness lie in not what we do for ourselves, but what we are teaching our students to do for others. The emphasis on the whole child is very prevalent in our school. First, our experienced full-time counselor helps support the needs of the whole child with life-enriching strategies at school and home.  Our students are proactively engaged in service-learning opportunities throughout the year such as, Feed My Starving Children, Martin Luther King Jr. Serve Day, and partner with local organizations to donate time and supplies to teach students the meaning of compassion and empathy. These character-building events, make Wayne Trail a well-rounded learning environment where students are supported and aim to reach above and beyond their potential!
